Exporting emails from Mimecast
Transvault uses a direct connector for Mimecast extractions, exporting your mailboxes and email data ready for migration.
We can extract data in the following formats:
- EML files
- Exchange Journal format (EJF) – includes all original recipients, as well as BCC’d recipients and any members of distribution lists. This is key for eDiscovery.
We report on any message corruptions to ensure that all possible data is migrated. Once the extraction is complete, Transvault will reorganise the export to meet your requirements in your chosen Cloud archive platform. Messages can be organised by user if desired. The extraction process is fully automated and secure, with minimal impact on end users. With a distributed architecture, throughput is maximised.

Migrating to Mimecast
Transvault also supports migration into Mimecast’s email archiving solution from several archiving platforms.
For migrations into Mimecast, there is no API to cater for a direct connection method.
Therefore the recommended workflow is to migrate to PST files using Transvault Migrator and then provide the PST files to Mimecast using their ‘Legacy Archive Data Management’ service.
PST data can be provided either grouped Per User (PU) or Not Per User (NPU).
